Sunrise Sunset no.1 is a kinetic light box that translates the cyclical rhythm of sunrise and sunset into slow, continuous movement. A motor-driven structure gently lifts and lowers the light source, while a red gradient gradually emerges and recedes, echoing the temporal cadence of dawn and dusk.

Rather than representing the sun directly, the work abstracts its movement and duration, allowing light to function as a perceptual threshold. The gradual shift of brightness and position resists immediacy and spectacle, instead encouraging viewers to slow down and attune their bodies to subtle changes over time.

By combining mechanical motion with controlled light, Sunrise Sunset no.1 explores time not as a fixed measurement, but as a sensory and embodied experience—one that unfolds through repetition, anticipation, and quiet transformation.

Embroidered sheer fabric combined with a light box as a sculptural installation.
